Top o' Slate, Haslingden

Top o’ Slate is an old quarry site situated in the hills above Haslingden. There are dramatic views overlooking the Rossendale Valley, and on the horizon can be seen both Darwen Tower and Peel Tower. To the south one can see Bury and Manchester and in the distance beyond, the Derbyshire Pennines.

‘Halo’ is at the centre of a wider partnership scheme to regenerate and develop a 32-hectare area combining Top o’ Slate with the adjacent Duckworth Clough. The regeneration scheme has been funded by the REMADE programme, which was set up by Lancashire County Council to reclaim neglected land for uses such as landscaped open space, play areas, nature reserves, footpaths, cycle ways and bridleways.
